Squid is a powerful portable cryotherapy system for pain relief and recovery for athletic trainers and medical professionals.

Squid revolutionizes injury recovery by combining sequential intermittent compression with cold treatment to provide maximum results.
Squid causes the cold treatment to penetrate deep into the tissue, reducing swelling and directing fluids from the treated area to the core. Swelling is reduced, improving blood flow to the injured tissue and delivering much-needed nutrients and oxygen.

Squid is designed to provide significant relief from muscle and joint pain.
This can enable users to reduce dependence on painkillers, perform previously painful daily tasks and get back to enjoying walking, running, skiing, tennis, golf and other sports.

Squid's patented sequential intermittent compression helps many world-class athletes in post-stress or post-operative recovery.
Squid can be used in many ways: from knee and ankle braces for runners or soccer players, to elbow pads for tendonitis or shoulder pads. Squid is designed to accelerate performance recovery by helping to remove lactic acid and other metabolites from the muscles.

Programming

15 min sessions

4 Programs

  • Post-operative, light pressure (30mmg). 40 seconds of compression / 20 seconds of rest.
  • Post-operative, moderate pressure (50mmg). 35 seconds of compression / 25 seconds of rest.
  • Sports rehabilitation, increased loedema drainage (70mmg pressure). 30 seconds of compression / 30 seconds of rest.
  • Sports recovery, post-exertion (85mmg pressure). 25 seconds of compression / 35 seconds of rest.

EACH SQUID COMES WITH 2 SPHERES ADAPTED TO THE PARTS OF THE BODY YOU WANT TO TREAT (leg, ankle, arm, or lumbar).

Cryotherapy, what is it?

Cryotherapy is based on applying to the body any element that eliminates heat and regularly lowers the temperature of the tissues, in order to achieve therapeutic effects that are complemented with physiotherapy processes, including the recovery of injuries and others.

Advantages and benefits of cryotherapy for physiotherapy treatments

Cryotherapy as a physiotherapeutic treatment has 4 main benefits:

  • Analgesic effect. Lowering the skin temperature below 15º C generates a local analgesic effect. The maximum analgesic benefit is obtained during the first 15 seconds of treatment and can last up to 1 hour.
  • Anti-inflammatory effect. The cold temperature of the tissues directly influences the inflammatory reaction. The application of cold can reduce between 70 and 80% of the amount of algogenic substances, generating a less intense inflammatory response. Cold decreases blood flow and hydrostatic pressure, thus limiting the plasma leakage responsible for edema. However, cold does not prevent the release of fluid that is essential for tissue repair, therefore, it only slows down the harmful effects of edema.
  • Vasoconstrictor effects. Cold causes rapid initial arteriolar and capillary vasoconstriction, but if the freezing temperature is maintained the periods of vasodilatation may be altered. Cold temperature does not have a direct direction on edema reabsorption, it is necessary to apply a small compression and an elevated position.
  • Neurological effect. Cold decreases muscle spasticity. The muscle during and after the application of ice decreases its amplitude.
